VISA APPLICATION
  • A valid visa is required to travel to Cameroon from Japan.
  • Visa Application Forms can be obtained at the Embassy or downloaded: Visa Application Form
  • Please mention the type of visa being requested (Tourist, Business, or Official /Diplomatic).
  • Allow at least 3 to 4 working days for your visa application to be reviewed.
  • The first entry into Cameroon has to take place within a period of three (3) months from the date of visa issue.
  • There are cases in which additional documents may be requested following the submission of application.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR VISA APPLICATION
1. A passport, valid for at least six (6) months.
2. A visa application form duly filled. When filling the application, the signature must be the same as the one in the traveler’s passport.
3. A passport size photograph (black and white or color with the name of applicant on the back) affixed on the application form.
4. Travel itinerary from a travel agency or e-ticket.
5. A hotel reservation.
6. A Letter of Guarantee from your company and/or an Invitation Letter from the third party in Cameroon. In the case of housewives/unemployed applicants, a Letter of Guarantee from a family member would be required.
7. A photocopy of proof of yellow fever vaccination is required. For polio, see: Public Health Announcement
8. For Non-Japanese nationals, an authorization to stay in Japan (re-entry visa).
9. Proof of income or financial support.
10. For married applicant(s) who intend to go to Cameroon on a long-term basis, the Embassy could request him/her/them to supply proof of his/hers/their marital status.
For Tourists

If you travel by car, you will require a “carnet de passages en douane” and international insurance, which is valid in Cameroon. (Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) is a customs document that allows travelers to temporarily import their motor vehicles into a country without having to leave cash deposit at the border).

For Students, Researchers and Conference Attendees

In addition to the general requirements for visa applicants, they would be required to provide an attestation from a Japanese academic institution and a letter of admission or invitation from a Cameroonian Academic Institution.

Visit for filming

A project letter must be submitted to the Embassy prior to visa application and all necessary documents confirmed.

For long term visa (residents and families)
  • A copy of Marriage Certificate (for married persons only)
  • On arrival in Cameroon, they would be expected to regularize they status with the Immigration Department.
Requirement for diplomatic & official visa
  • A Note Verbal;
  • A Diplomatic or Official Passport, valid for at least six (6) months;
  • A visa application form duly filled;
  • A passport-size photograph (black and white or colour).

  •  The presentation of required documents does not guarantee the issuing of a visa.
  •  The Embassy may request an applicant to appear for an interview.
  •  Any false declarations will lead to the rejection of the application.
  •  Visa applications by post will be accepted and processed only if all relevant documents are enclosed.

Within Japan:

  • Mail delivery service “takkyubin”. Write down your address on the collect sheet (”tchakubarai”);
  • Expack 500 (you can find it at any convenience store or post office).
  • For the fees, if you cannot send the cash, the Japan post office has the registered postal cash envelope called “Genkin Kakitome”.

Out of Japan:

  • Please pay in cash if possible:
  • ¥14,000 for the visa fees, ¥2,000 for the return mail by EMS or ¥7,000 for DHL
  • Or a bank draft/check of ¥25,000 per person payable to “Embassy of Cameroon”. The amount of the check covers the following expenses: exchange fees at the bank, visa (in case of 3 months visa) and return fees. For 6 months visa, contact the Embassy.
  • If you already have an account number for collection (Payer Account Number), don’t forget to mention it on your DHL airway bill, FedEx, or UPS.
  • If you do not have an account number, but use these services regularly, call them from your country to contact their counterpart in Japan to request the collection service.

PASSPORT

PASSPORT

The Embassy of the Republic of Cameroon in Tokyo wishes to inform members of the Cameroonian community residing in the region that applications for processing machine-readable passports are received at the Consular Section of the Mission.

1. All prospective applicants for new passports and renewals MUST appear in person at the Consular Section of the Embassy in Tokyo, Japan for photographing and finger printing.
2. Prospective applicants must come prepared with the completed list of requirements and fees.
3. The Consular Section is open from 12:00pm to 4:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for photographing, fingerprinting, payment of fees and the submission of application forms. Please send an e-mail to <consular@cameroon-embassy-jp.org> or call 03-5430-4985 to get an appointment.
4. Please note that the Birth Certificates of all applicants born overseas must be transcribed at any Cameroon Diplomatic Mission with territorial jurisdiction over the countries where the person was born, before being sent in as part of the requirements for a passport.
5. Following a successful submission of an application, the applicant is issued an official receipt and a receipt of fees. These ORIGINAL receipts MUST not be surrendered to third parties and will be needed when collecting the passport.
6. All Application fees are non-refundable and the Embassy declines any responsibility for misleading information or fraudulent applications rejected by the Passport Processing Center at the Delegation for National Security in Yaoundé.
7. Applicants are informed that a minimum of 2 months processing time should be expected from the date the application is forwarded to the Yaoundé Processing Centre.
8. All Applicants will be informed as soon as passports are ready for collection.
9. It should be noted that the Embassy is not responsible for any costs related to travel, and lodging for the purpose of submitting passport applications or collection.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROCESSING MACHINE READABLE ORDINARY PASSPORTS

(Cf. Decree No 90/1245 of 24th August 1990)

A. Requirements for Adults.
1. Four (4) passport sized photos (photography is carried out at the Chancellery to meet DGSN specifications)
2. Two (2) applications forms obtained at the reception desk of the Consular Service one of which should bear a 1000FCFA fiscal stamped
3. One (1) certified true copy of your birth certificate
4. One (1) certified true copy of your National Identity Card.
5. Attestation indicating proof of profession (if applicable)
6. One (1) certified true copy of your Marriage Certificate (or transcription) less than three months old.
7. A decree of Naturalization or Reintegration (if applicable)
8. Payment of equivalent of 75.000FCFA for the passport processing fee.
9. Finger printing (at the Consular Service)
10. Height measurement (at the Consular Service)
B. Requirements for Minors
1. Four (4) passport sized photos(photography is carried out at the Chancellery to meet DGSN specifications)
2. Two (2) application forms obtained at the reception desk of the Consular Service, one of which should bear a 1000 FCFA fiscal stamp.
3. One (1) certified copy of birth certificate (Birth certificates of children born overseas must be transcribed)
4. Certified copies of the National Identity Cards of the parents
5. Attestation indicating proof of profession (if applicable)
6. Legalized parental authorization from both parents or legal guardian
7. Payment of equivalent of 75.000FCFA for the processing fee
8. Finger printing (at the Consular Service)
9. Height measurement (at the Consular Service)
C. Renewal of Machine readable passports.
1. Two (2) passport size photographs (photography at the Chancellery to meet with DGSN specifications)
2. The passport booklet requiring renewal
3. The Consular Identification Card or Residence permit
4. Two (2) application forms obtained at the reception desk of the Consular Service one of which should be bear a 1000FCFA fiscal stamp
5. Height measurement (at the Chancellery)
6. Finger Printing (at the chancellery for minors turned adults)
7. Payment equivalent of 75.000FCFA for the processing fee.
  • In A and B photocopies of pages 2,3,4,5,6,7 and the old hand written booklet are required.
  • In the event of loss of the previous passport the applicant must include an attestation of loss issued by the police of the country of residence (This document must be translated into English or French)

MARRIAGE

CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE ELIGIBILITY

1. The Declaring must provide also the original copies of the following documents for each Member of the future couple:

  • Handwritten request
  • Certificate of Celibacy legalized by the Ministry of External Relations in Cameroon
  • Birth Certificate or Civil Status Registry Certificate (Koseki Tohon)
  • Passport
  • National Identity Card or Alien Registration Card
  • In case of divorce, the certificate of the Judgment proving the separation
  • Nonrefundable ¥2000 for stamps

NB: Legalized English or French translation of the above mentioned if it is in any other language then that of English or French.

  • No incomplete file will be accepted.
  • Any false declaration would lead to the rejection of the application and expose the declaring to criminal charges.

2. After examination of the documents by the consular office, the Embassy will publish marriage banns for a statutory period of 30 days.
If no objections are raised, the Embassy will issue marriage eligibility documents which are:

  • certification of the birth certificate
  • certification of the single status
  • certificate of eligibility
  • Additional fiscal stamp fees of ¥400 will be required for each documents
ISSUANCE OF CAMEROONIAN MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
  • A handwritten request.
  • The Marriage Certificate issued by the Japanese Authorities or the Host Country and the translation of the Marriage Certificate in French or English.
  • Birth certificate of the Spouse (if Cameroonian).
  • A Civil Status registration (koseki tôhon) of the Spouse (if Japanese or any other nationality) and the translation of the above-mentioned document if it is in any other language then that of English or French.
  • A Cameroon National Identity Card or Alien Card.
  • The passports.
  • Or the driving license, Insurance Card (if Japanese National or others).

BIRTH CERTIFICATE

ISSUANCE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE OF A NEW BORN BABY
  • A handwritten request.
  • The Cameroonian Marriage Certificate of the parents.
  • The birth certificate of the baby issued at the hospital and signed by the doctor.
  • The translation of the said Birth Certificate in French or English.
  • The birth certificate of both parents.
  • Legalized translation of the above-mentioned document if it is in any other language then that in English or French.
  • The Cameroon National Identity Card if possible or Alien Card of the parents;
  • The passports of the parents.
